Sustainable Energy Initiative for industries launched in Pakistan by GEF

ISLAMABAD (APP): With an ultimate goal to avoid greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by developing and promoting a market environment, Sustainable Energy Initiative for Industrial sector would be launched on Tuesday.
The Initiative will help stimulate investments in renewable energy and energy efficiency projects in industry, which in turn will support industrial development in the energy scarce country.
The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) is implementing a Global Environment Facility (GEF) funded project entitled; "Sustainable Energy Initiative for Industries in Pakistan".
Secretary Industries and Production Khizar Hayat Gondal would be the chief guest while a number of experts drawn from different parts would shed light on the features of the Initiative, at the day long deliberations of the function.
UNIDO promotes sustainable energy solutions to assist industry in reducing their energy consumption, as well as using clean renewable energy in the most efficient manner for the enhancement of industrial competitiveness and productivity, while mainstreaming gender and increasing employment opportunities.
