Punjab government plans to enhance international livestock trade

LAHORE (APP): Punjab government has planned to enhance its share in international livestock trade and a series of steps is being taken to get the benefit from the potential of livestock sector, a senior official of the provincial Livestock department told APP here.

He said that billions of rupees had been allocated during next financial year for the promotion of this sector.

He said the government was paying full attention to the development of livestock and dairy farming as per vision of Chief Minister Punjab.

He said that livestock and dairy farming was of paramount importance in strengthening national economy and that's why the government was implementing a comprehensive road map for its improvement.

He said that targets have been fixed for this sector which would be achieved at every cost. The concerned institutions have been directed to work hard in a coordinated manner, he said and added that with the uplift of livestock sector, poverty and unemployment problems could be overcome.

A majority of population of Punjab is associated with livestock sector and the goal of self-sufficiency can be achieved with the promotion of this sector, he added.
