Three petroleum exploration licences issued to foreign companies

ISLAMABAD - Petroleum Division of the Energy Ministry has granted three licences to foreign companies for carrying out exploration activities in potential areas of the country during last five years.

The application fee for grant of a petroleum exploration licence is Rs 100,000, official sources told APP. The OMV (Pakistan), an Austrian oil and gas exploration company, was awarded a permit to start exploratory drills in Kuhan (Block 2867-5) on 2,497.83 square-kilometer area on February 28, 2014. A Kuwaiti firm, Tallahassee, got the exploration licence for Karak North (Block 3370-15) on 99.14 sq. km area on August 25,2014. While, a Canadian company KPBV got the licence to start exploration activities in Paharpur (Block 3170-5) on 2,260.79 sq. km area on March 13, 2015.
