Federal Cabinet approved new Media Regulatory Authority

ISLAMABAD - Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry has said the country's media has changed altogether due to advancement in technology and it is need of the hour to run it under one administrative umbrella.
He said the federal cabinet has approved establishment of Pakistan Media Regulatory Authority, for which consultation would be held with all stakeholders to make it acceptable for everyone.
Fawad Chaudhry said the new media regulatory authority would not be under the government's control and most of its members would be from journalist organizations to make it more balanced and effective.
Replying to a question, the Minister said the government has reached an agreement with Pakistan Broadcasters Association and has successfully resolved the matter of advertisement.
