China responds over media reports of Pakistan China financial agreement

BEIJING - China has always provided support and assistance to Pakistan's economic and social development within its capabilities, a Chinese foreign ministry’s spokesperson said on Friday. “We support Pakistani side to take measures to actively respond to and overcome the temporary difficulties,” Hua Chunying said during her regular briefing when asked to comment that Pakistan was about to reach an agreement with China in the financial sector. The spokesperson said China and Pakistan are all-weather strategic partners, adding, China has always provided support and assistance to Pakistan's economic and social development within its capabilities. Responding to a question about the visit of Secretary-General of Afghan High Peace Committee to Beijing, she said the special representative of the Afghan Presidential Reconciliation Regional Consensus and the Secretary-General of the Afghan Peace Committee visited China from January 24 to 26. China Assistant Foreign Minister Chen Xiaodong met with him. The Special Envoy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan, Deng Xijun, and the visiting Afghan dignitaries held talks and exchanged views on issues such as the Afghan reconciliation. She said both sides believed that dialogue is the fundamental way to resolve the Afghan issue. The international community, especially the regional countries, should strengthen cooperation and create a good external environment for the Afghan reconciliation. The Chinese side emphasized the support for the broadly inclusive "Afghan-led and Afghan-owned reconciliation process" and is willing to continue to play an active and constructive role in achieving peace, reconciliation, stability, and development at an early date.
