Nawaz Sharif handed 7 years imprisonment in Al-Azizia case, taken to Adiala Jail

Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was awarded seven-year rigorous imprisonment, forfeiture of assets in question and a fine of 2.5 million dollars in Al-Azizia Steel Mills reference case by Accountability Court in Islamabad on Monday.
Judge Arshad Malik of Accountability Court, who announced the verdict, acquitted Nawaz Sharif in Flagship Investments reference case.
Nawaz Sharif was arrested from the premises of accountability court.
The Accountability Court Judge accepted Nawaz Sharif's request to shift him to Kot Lakhpat Jail Lahore instead of Adiyala Jail Rawalpindi.
The verdict was reserved by Accountability Court Judge Muhammad Arshad Malik on Wednesday last.
Nawaz Sharif was later shifted to Adiyala Jail Rawalpindi from where he will be shifted to Kot Lakhpat Jail Lahore tomorrow.
Later, Accountability Court Islamabad issued its detailed judgment in Al-Azizia Reference against former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
In its 131 pages written judgment, the court highlighted reasons of Nawaz Sharif's conviction in the reference.
It said that the prosecution has successfully established all the ingredients of the offence of corruption and corrupt practices of former Prime Minister.
It said that former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has failed to prove sources of income during the proceeding.
