Khawaja Saad Rafique's claim about Pakistan Railways turn out to be a pack of lies

LAHORE – Contrary to claims of former Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique of making Pakistan Railways a profitable organisation it has been revealed that Pakistan Railways is under heavy loss to the amount of Rs 37 billion per annum.

Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid Ahmad has revealed that the Pakistan Railway is facing worth Rs37 billion deficit.

The railway minister said while chairing a high level meeting at the Railways Headquarters in Lahore today. He was briefed about the current situation of savings and deficit of the railway in the meeting.

Sheikh Rashid said that the government attached top priority to the enhancement of the railways’ revenue and reduction of its deficit. He also said that railways was facing a lot of problems which will be solved and we would invite the private sector to do business with railway.

The minister mentioned that it was the need of the hour to establish the commercial plazas on the railways’ land to enhance the income of the department. “We will establish the Sanitation Task Force to clean the areas, adjacent to the railways stations,” he said.

The railway minister said that he would work hard to improve the performance of railway and reduce its expenses and funds will be spent solely for the development of the department.
