Pakistan Foreign Office summons Indian deputy HC over ceasefire violation

ISLAMABAD - Acting Indian Deputy High Commissioner was summoned at Foreign Office on Sunday and strong protest lodged with him over the unprovoked ceasefire violations by Indian forces in Kotli and Nakiyal Sub-Sector on Friday last.

The incident resulted in the martyrdom of a 22-year-old girl of Balakot and injuries to two other civilians, including a female.  According to Foreign Office, India has continued to indulge in ceasefire violations, despite calls for restraint.

In 2017 to date, Indian forces have carried out eight-hundred and seventy-three ceasefire violations along the Line of Control and the Working Boundary which resulted in martyrdom of thirty-nine innocent civilians and injuries to one-hundred and forty-four.

The Acting Director General South Asia and SAARC urged New Delhi to respect the 2003 Ceasefire arrangement.

He also asked the Indian side to investigate and halt the incidents of ceasefire violations to maintain peace on the LoC.
