Srinagar Bar Association stands against Indian Army fake encounter

ISLAMABAD, May 24 (APP): Srinagar Bar Association stands against Indian Army fake encounter

The High Court Bar Association has asked the chief justice of the territory's high court to take up the issue of killing of five youth by Indian troops in a fake encounter in Kupwara.

Indian troops killed five youth at Chak Dragmulla in Kupwara.

The Bar in a statement issued in Srinagar, requested Chief Justice and  his companion judges to take so motto cognizance of the matter being custodians of the life and liberty of the people. The Bar asked the court to order investigation of the case by a well-reputed impartial investigating agency to find out under what circumstances the aforesaid youth were killed by the army at Dragmulla in Kupwara, reported KMS.

"The Bar Association feels that when the entire population of the area maintains that the encounter was a fake and a staged one, as on receiving the bodies, they found the youth were killed 5 or 6 days before and had been brought to the village to show that they were killed in an encounter," the statement added.

"It becomes duty of the High court, which is supposed to be the watchdog of the legal, fundamental and constitutional rights of the people and their fundamental freedoms to show more sensitivity toward the issue and adopt a realistic and people friendly approach in finding out the truth," the court urged.

The Bar also condemns the statement of puppet Minister Lal Singh in which he had threatened the Jammu Muslims of a repeat of 1947 massacre.
