Pakistan cannot trust Modi on his words

ISLAMABAD - Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has clearly hinted that Modi cannot be trusted over his words.

He said Pakistan welcomes the message of good will on Pakistan Day by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, however, it will have to stay vigilant on borders until the Indian elections in May.

The FM was speaking to Geo News programme ‘Nayya Pakistan’ where he said that the Indian PM’s message is tantamount to ‘better late than never’.

“We have to stay vigilant,” said the foreign minister, adding that any untoward move cannot be ruled out until May 19, the day India goes to vote.

On the question pertaining to Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto’s allegations regarding banned organisations, the minister said that Bilawal should tell himself what sort of action he recommends in such a situation.

“If he were in the government, what would he have done?... He should tell us in writing and we are willing to talk on this” said Qureshi.

Prime Minister Imran Khan said on Friday Indian Prime Minister Modi wished him ahead of Pakistan Day, March 23.
