Pakistani American Kumail Najiani named for Oscar award

WASHINGTON - Kumail Najiani, Pakistani-American comedian and actor has earned a good name for himself and his community both in America and Pakistan.

Kumail Najiani was nominated for an Oscar in the ‘original screenplay’ category for *The Big Sick*.

The *Big Sick* is a drama-romance that portrays about his romantic life that occurred with wife in real life, Emily Gordan. Kumail was the main protagonist as himself, Zoe Kazan was playing the role of girlfriend Emily as Holly Hunter and Ray Romano were cast as Emily’s parents.

With the help of his, Emily V Gordon, Nanjiani cowore his debut film.

“By depicting a Muslim family as like normal people, that’s its big political statement,” said Nanjiani in an earlier interview to Reuters.

“It’s important for kids to see themselves in the stuff they watch. But more than that, I think it’s important that people from different points of view are behind the camera telling the stories, writing them, directing them,” Nanjiani had said.

Najiani received a positive and overwhelming response to such a tremendous recognition on Twitter.
