Nawaz Sharif could be jailed for 14 years, likely to be arrested from court premises

*ISLAMABAD - Accountability Court Judge Arshad Malik will announce the verdict on Al Alzizia and Flagship references against former prime minister Nawaz Sharif today (Monday).*

The verdict will be announced at 2pm, according to PML-N leader Barrister Zafarullah, who is also a member of Nawaz's legal time. He said security officials have informed them of this. However, we cannot say anything directly as we have not been allowed inside the court, he said.

The verdict was reserved on December 19. If convicted, Nawaz could be jailed for a maximum of 14 years. He will be present in court to hear the verdict and reached Islamabad on Sunday. Nawaz has been ready since 8:30am to appear before the court, says Tariq Fazal Chaudhry.

The Islamabad administration and the capital security institutions have advised us that until they give us the security clearance, we should not come to court, he said. They are the ones who are in touch with the court, he said, adding that they have been told there is some delay in the verdict.

Only Nawaz, his legal team and 30 PML-N leaders will be allowed inside the court. A select few media persons will also be allowed in.
