Altaf Hussain Speech : PM Spokesman's statement

ISLAMABAD (APP): Spokesman to the Prime Minister Dr Musadik Malik on Tuesday said the government was looking into legal aspects for filing a suit against Altaf Hussain for inciting people to violence and attacking media houses in Karachi.

Speaking in a private news channel programme, he said there were certain legal complications and the government was looking into possibilities of filing a suit against the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader.

He said the statement of Altaf Hussain was highly condemnable and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and other political leaders had condemned it.

The spokesman said this issue would be forcefully raised with the British Government and contact had already been made in that regard.

"We are raising this issue with the British Government and shall wait how they respond to our demand because the case against Altaf Hussain has to be registered under the British law," he said.

"We may also ask the British Government for an action against Altaf Hussain for inciting people in Pakistan for violence."

Commenting on recent developments, he said the situation was confusing. "I have come here with a thinking that if the omission is committed by one person, then ordinary workers should not be indicted for the reason. But, now it seems that there is confusion."

He said if the MQM as a party would not dissociate from that statement, it would be damaging for it. "We will close down the factory that produces such statements against Pakistan and the federal government will do it by all means."

He said by the time it was working hypothesis that only Altaf Hussain was issuing such statements by himself but if it was a policy of the party as a whole, then there would be a great loss.
