General (R) Pervaiz Musharaf in hot waters

ISLAMABAD - Former President Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf is in hot waters in the assets beyond known sources of income case.

NAB has summoned the main complainant with evidence on April 30 to corroborate his statement recorded earlier.

On April 4, the anti-graft body recorded the statement of Lt-Col (retd) Inam-ur-Rahim, the main complainant/applicant against Gen (retd) Musharraf in the assets beyond means case.

The accountability watchdog has also written a letter to the Election Commission of Pakistan and the Ministry of Defence to provide details of all assets of Gen (retd) Musharraf to speed the inquiry against him.

Last week, NAB Chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal during the executive board meeting authorised the inquiry against the former president.

A NAB notice issued to Inam-ur-Rehman on April 19 says: “Whereas the competent authority has taken cognizance of an offence committed by the subject accused under the provisions of NAO, 1999.

Whereas, the subject inquiry has revealed that (you) are in possession of information/evidence whatsoever, which relates to the commission of the said offence.”
