An anti-terrorism court in Lahore has issued a summons for PML-N leaders Marriyum Aurangzeb and Javed Latif to appear on September 30 in a case related to provocative speeches.
The order was made by ATC judge Abher Gul Khan during a Saturday hearing. The court dismissed the discharge report submitted by the police and instead called upon Aurangzeb and Latif to appear on September 30.
On September 14, 2022, a terrorism case was registered against Aurangzeb and Latif in Lahore for allegedly "using religion to incite and propagate hatred" against PTI chief Imran Khan.
The First Information Report (FIR) was filed by a citizen at Green Town Police Station in Lahore and was filed under sections 9 (punishment for acts intended or likely to stir up sectarian hatred) and 11X-3 (responsibility for creating civil commotion) of the Anti-Terrorism Act.
The complainant noted that the press conference was broadcast on national television and shared a copy of the FIR, stating that he had come across Latif's press conference on September 14 in which he made troubling accusations against Imran Khan in the name of religion.
