PM Imran Khan chairs important meetings in Lahore
LAHORE - Prime Minister Imran Khan says devolution of powers at grassroots level aimed at empowering people in the real sense is the most important agenda of the PTI government.
Chairing a meeting on local bodies system in Lahore on Sunday, he said a local bodies system will be introduced in which local government representatives are not blackmailed at any level and they can fully focus on welfare of people.
The Prime Minister said besides devolution of powers it will also be ensured that people hold their representatives accountable.
He said local bodies system will help bring new leadership to the fore.
Imran Khan said parliamentarians in the past would pay less attention on legislation and more on acquiring powers and funds.
He said the objective to introduce new local bodies system is to break status quo.
He said the new system will base on democratic values, and governance and transparency will be ensured in it.
Those who attended the meeting included Federal Information Minister Chaudhry Fawad Hussain, Punjab Governor Chaudhry Sarwar,
Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar, the Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the senior PTI leadership.
