LHC Chief Justice chairs high powered committee meeting

LAHORE: (APP) Lahore High Court Chief Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah on Friday said issues pertaining to the LHC and subordinate judiciary would be resolved through mutual consultation.
Chairing a high powered committee meeting, he said that security of the courts across the province was an important issue, adding foolproof security should be provided to judges, lawyers and litigants in the LHC and district judiciary.

"It is necessary to immediately implement steps like installation of CCTV cameras on entry & exit points and construction of control rooms in courts in this regard," he added.
The chief justice also pointed out that district judiciary lacked good furniture and infrastructure, adding that judicial officers should be provided positive atmosphere so that they could dispense justice to the people in a confident manner.
He said that 150th year of the LHC establishment's celebrations would be held in November this year and provincial government should also play its role for the purpose. He said that judiciary, bar, and the government should work together for the success of celebrations.

In November, programmes on awareness regarding judicial system in courts of all districts across Punjab would be organized, wherein local administration should also provide help, he added.
The meeting discussed financial, administrative and other matters of the Lahore High Court and district judiciary.
Chief Secretary Punjab Capt (retd) Zahid Saeed informed the chief justice that in previous meeting, the issue of appointment of focal persons of departments for appearing before the Lahore High Court was discussed.
He said all departments were appointing their focal persons and soon the process would be finalised.

The chief secretary on behalf of the Punjab government assured all possible support on the issues discussed above.
Secretary C&W Khalid Mehmood, Special Secretary Finance Sail Ullah Dogar, Secretary Prosecution Ali Murtaza, Secretary Law Syed Abu ul Hassan Najmi, Secretary P&D Iftikhar Ali and Additional Inspector General of Police Arif Nawaz Khan and others represented the Punjab government whereas Registrar LHC Syed Khurshid Anwar, Senior Registrar Ata ur Rehman, Additional Registrar Finance Syed Mustanser Hussain Shah, Deputy Registrar Budget and Finance Muhammad Nadeem Sheikh were also present on the occasion.
