Naya Pakistan Housing Program to provide houses to homeless people: PM

Prime Minister Imran Khan says Naya Pakistan Housing Program will not only help in providing houses to homeless people but also increase economic activities in the country.

Addressing a meeting of Housing Task Force in Islamabad, he said the program will also help in meeting the challenge of unemployment in the country.

The Prime Minister directed to expand the scope of the Housing Programme to Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan as well.

Chairman Housing Task Force, Zaigham Mahmood Rizvi, briefed the meeting about the progress of proposed legislation, housing authorities established on federal and provincial level, proposed Real Estate Regulatory Authority and other issues regarding the program.

Meanwhile, chairing another meeting, the Prime Minister approved five years plan for enhanced National Financial Inclusion Strategy.

He said the plan would facilitate citizens and financial institutions, especially in priority sectors of economy.

Appreciating the efforts being made towards broadening financial inclusion, the Prime Minister said access to finance is critical to achieve sustainable and inclusive economic growth.

In his briefing to the meeting, Governor State Bank Tariq Bajwa said implementation of the five years plan would create three million jobs and ensure additional exports of 5.5 billion dollars.

He said the plan also includes a strategy to increase the deposit base of banks to fifty five percent of GDP and encourage higher savings.
