Model Town case in LHC reaches final stage

Lahore: The Lahore High Court on Wednesday has summoned the Punjab government counsel Khawaja Haris for final arguments in government’s intra-court appeal to not make model town tragedy report public.
The three-member bench headed by Justice Abid Aziz Sheikh resumed the hearing of model town case.
Gibing his arguments, the lawyer Pakistan Awami Tehreek Khawaja Ahmed told the court that the judicial inquiry was the public documents and it should be made public as the government hiding the report wanted to protect the accused.
He continued, “The families of martyrs did not know who are the killer of their loves ones,” adding that PML-N has the aim to make the report and judicial commission controversial, therefore court is requested to reject government intra-court appeal on the basis of contempt of court.
On November 21, Lahore High Court has summoned Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) counsel on Wednesday for arguments after the completion of arguments by the lawyer of victims Model Town in Punjab government’s intra-court appeal.
The three-member bench of the LHC headed by justice Abid Aziz Sheikh heard the case over the Punjab government intra-court appeal regarding the making public Model Town inquiry report.
