Noorul Amin Mengal, DG PFA taken hostage

MURREE - A team of the Punjab Food Authority was attacked while inspecting a hostel in Murree, a spokesperson of the agency said on Saturday.

Punjab Food Authority Director General Noorul Amin Mengal was checking food points when the team was attacked. The hotel of Raja Ashfaq Sarwar was being sealed over unhygienic food when several people attacked them, he said.

The spokesperson said that the team was being held hostage in the hotel and remained there to get help from the local administration. Earlier, the tourists had boycotted Murree for locals misbehaving with them.

A boycott Murree campaign was active on social media. However, several people thronged to Murree hills on the occasion of Eid. Formed under the Punjab Food Authority Act 2011, the provincial agency regulates food safety and hygiene in the Punjab province
