Amnesty Scheme evokes positive response: FBR

ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) says Amnesty Scheme 2018 has evoked a positive response from people.
Addressing a news conference in Islamabad on Friday, FBR's Spokesperson Dr. Muhammad Iqbal said purpose of the scheme is to streamline non-filers of tax by paying a nominal tax.
He said tax rate on foreign currency account is two percent while for domestic assets it is five percent.
The FBR spokesman said tax returns under the scheme can be filed by 30th of this month.
Answering a question, Dr. Muhammad Iqbal said people involved in criminal cases, government officials and people holding a public office are not eligible to benefit from the scheme.
To another question, he said guidelines for filing tax amnesty declaration are available on FBR's official website; www.fbr.gov.pk.
