ISLAMABAD, Jun 23 (APP): Pakistani-Chinese University to collaborate in distance learning progrmmes
Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) entered into agreement with China's Yunnan Open University (YNOU) for establishing collaborative partnership in educational exchange programmes.
The two sides decided to benefit from each other expertise and experience for strengthening their respective Faculties in various disciplines.
They also decided to cooperate in providing supporting material to students in their relevant fields.
The agreement was signed by President of YNOU Du Junun and Director AIOU's international collaboration office Zahid Majeed, on behalf of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shahid Siddiqui at Kunming, capital of Yunnan Province.
Dr. Shahid Siddiqui in his message termed the agreement as highly important since it would an opportunity to provide educational support to China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
This is part of the University's plan to establish Chinese Language Centre at its main campus.
The University wished to play its role in establishing `Education Corridor" as well in line with CPEC, he said adding the two Universities could also provide intellectual input in pushing forward the President's Xi Jinping's initiative of One Belt One Road.
Under the agreement, the two universities will provide online teaching and learning support services to their students and faculty members.
It was also agreed that the AIOU will include Chinese courses as electives in its teaching program so as to facilitate the students to learn Chinese language.
The Yunnan Open University offered three Chinese language learning projects for AIOU that include Chinese Preparatory Program for studying in China, online Chinese language undergraduate degree programme and on-line tutoring program of HSK examination.
Under the agreement, the AIOU will send excellent Chinese language learners and printing technology learners to YNOU for further study.
It may be mentioned here that AIOU has already signed an agreement with Sichuan University of China and it was looking forward for similar arrangement with the counterparts Educational Institutions in Yunnan region.
The AIOU has also signed an agreement Beijing Open University for promoting Chinese language and education exchange programme.
