Livestock sector in FATA

BAJAUR AGENCY: (APP) Director Livestock and Dairy Development FATA, Malik Ayaz Khan Wazir on Thursday said the federal government is making  all out efforts to boost livestock sector in the tribal areas with a view that it could play a vital role in the socio-economic development of the area.

Addressing at the distribution of milk chilling machines to the milk vendors of the agency here at civil colony in Khar, he said initially the chillier machines were provided to main dealers in different bazaars and would also be given to small milk sellers soon.

The Director Livestock FATA, Malik Ayaz Wazir Khan distributed the chiller machines among 13 milk sellers of different areas.

He hoped that provision of chiller machines would not only improve the milk related business in the agency but also ensure purity and freshness of milk and dairy products, adding the scheme was meant to build capacity of the milk sellers to boost milk related products in the agency.

Ayaz Wazir said the federal government intends to boost business of dairy related products in FATA as the region is suitable for livestock development.

He said the FATA secretariat with the financial support of federal government has decided to start several schemes in the tribal areas in order to improve the livestock sector and claimed that the department has planned to promote dairy products in the agency by providing some visible incentives to the local farmers.

On the occasion, Assistant Director Livestock and Dairy Development Bajaur Dr Ahmed Younas briefed the participants about activities of his department.

Bajaur Agency Additional Political Agent also addressed the ceremony and thanked the federal government for providing the chilling machines to milk vendors of the Agency.

All Bajaur Traders Association president Haji Sher Bahadar and milk vendors also attended the event.
