*ISLAMABAD - The Lahore High Court has dismissed AML leader Sheikh Rashid’s petition challenging the postponement of election in his constituency the NA-60 (Rawalpindi).*
The ECP on July 22 postponed the election in NA-60 after PML-N candidate Hanif Abbasi was disqualified.
An anti-narcotics court on July 21 sentenced Abbasi to life in prison in the ephedrine quota case.
PPP candidate Mukhtar Abbas had also petitioned the Islamabad High Court against the ECP notification and asked for the election to be held as soon as possible.
He said that an election cannot be postponed only because one candidate has been sentenced to jail.
