Ishaq Dar to be arrested by Interpol, sent back to Pakistan

ISLAMABAD - Interpol has issued red warrants to arrest the former Finance Minister of Pakistan Ishaq Dar. The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) previously requested the Interior Ministry to issue the warrants.
He has been accused over holding assets that are not commensurate with his declared sources of income. An accountability court has declared Dar as a fugitive, given his continued non-appearance at the hearings.
Upon the request of the Pakistani government, Interpol has issued the red warrants for Ishaq Dar.
Ishaq Dar is currently residing in London, and undergoing medical treatment as per reports. There’s no word on when he will return to Pakistan.
Interestingly, NAB’s notification regarding Ishaq Dar’s case states that:
He [Dar] is suffering from no such ailment that cannot be treated in Pakistan.
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), wrote a letter to the International Criminal Police Organisation (Interpol) earlier this month as well. The letter asked Interpol to detain Ishaq Dar, given his status as a fugitive from the law.
The Supreme Court of Pakistan directed to file a reference against Ishaq Dar on July 28 in its verdict of the Panama Papers case. The Bureau filed the references as per the court’s orders.
However, Ishaq Dar didn’t make an appearance during the proceedings, choosing to go to UK instead. The accountability court declared him a proclaimed offender, with NAB deciding to bring him back to Pakistan with the help of the Interpol.
Following this red notice, Ishaq Dar is likely to be arrested and brought back to Pakistan.
