Imran Khan gets a blow from Islamabad High Court

ISLAMABAD – Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday restored Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) show cause notice to Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan for violating code of conduct in by-poll.

A single bench comprised of Justice Amir Farooq conducted hearing. The court had reserved decision on April 26.

The court while dismissing Khan’s plea against ECP’s decision restored the show cause notice.

The notice was sent to the PTI chief for holding rallies in Lahore, Shaiwal and Lodhran after which the verdict was challenged in IHC. ------------------------------

Earlier, a notice was issued to Imran Khan over use of offensive language during election campaign rallies.

A four-member commission headed by Sindh’s Abdul Ghafoor Somro conducted hearing on the notice and barred the PTI chief from use of such remarks.

Khan later assured the ECP in writing of not using offensive language during his election campaigns.
