LHC grants bail to accused in Saaf Pani scam

LAHORE: A Lahore High Court division bench granted interim bail to an accused involved in Saaf Pani corruption case.
The court ordered the accused, Masroor Ahmad, to submit surety bonds of Rs 1 million for availing the relief of the bail. The court also sought reply from National Accountability Bureau (NAB) authorities till January 28.
The bench headed by Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmad Khan passed the orders on a pre-arrest bail application filed by Masroor Ahmad.
Earlier, the petitioner's counsel argued that his client was associated with a Saaf Pani contractor and he was nominated in the reference despite the fact that he did not commit any corruption.
He submitted that his client came from Canada to prove his innocence.
He said that the NAB did not have any evidence against the petitioner whereas he was ready to cooperate with the bureau in investigations.
He pleaded with the court to grant benefit of bail to his client.
The court after hearing the arguments granted interim bail to the petitioner and also sought reply from the NAB till January 28.
