Pakistan's PM attends TAPI pipeline ceremony held in Herat, Afghanistan

HERAT - A ceremony on completion of Turkmenistan section of Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project was held in Herat city of Afghanistan on Friday.

Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi represented Pakistan at the ceremony, which was also attended by senior officials from Afghanistan, India, Turkmenistan and Pakistan.

Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India project will transport gas from Turkmenistan to Afghanistan, Pakistan and India via a 1,814km pipeline.

The project aims to bring natural gas from the Gylkynish and adjacent gas fields in Turkmenistan to Afghanistan, Pakistan and India.

The project envisages to lay a 56-inch diameter 1,680 KM pipeline with design capacity of 3.2 billion cubic feet of natural gas per annum (Bcfd) from Turkmenistan through Afghanistan and Pakistan up to Pak-India border.
