ANF seizes 6.9 ton drugs worth Rs. 8 billions

ISLAMABAD: (APP) Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has seized 6.9 ton narcotics worth Rs 8 billion in countrywide operations.

According to ANF here on Thursday, the seized drugs included 6.625 ton hashish, 94 kg heroin, 227 kg opium, 9.2 kg morphine, 760 gram cocaine and 80 psychotropic tablets.

The force also arrested 14 persons including a lady and a foreign national involved in drug smuggling.

It also seized 148.2 kg suspected chemical during operations.

As per details, ANF Peshawar in a joint operation seized 6604 kg hashish, 226.5 kg opium, 88.74 kg heroin, 9.2 kg morphine and 148.2 kg suspected chemical. The drugs were stocked at a desolate located at Shakas, Khyber Agency.

The preliminary reports revealed the drugs were intended to be handed over to another narcotics gang for shifting to some unidentified destination.

The ANF Peshawar recovered 2 kg hashish from possession of two drug carriers identified as Arif Shah and Shahnawaz both residents of Attock who were arrested while riding on a motorcycle near Dengi Tube Well, Haripur.

The ANF Rawalpindi arrested a local drug peddler named Chaman Gul and recovered 200 gram hashish from his possession. He was arrested from village Salar, Attock.

The ANF Rawalpindi arrested Taza Gul, resident of Nowshera and recovered 1.5kg Hashish from his possession. He was arrested near Hattian Stop, GT Road, Attock.

As per reports, he was involved in distribution of drugs at local level.

The ANF Rawalpindi intercepted a parcel at an office of Courier Service Company based at Rawalpindi and seized 430 gram heroin concealed inside packets containing beauty creams. The parcel was being dispatched to United Kingdom (UK).

The ANF Lahore arrested Usama Jehangir and recovered 80 ecstasy tablets weighing 35 gram from his personal possession. He was arrested near Joray Pul, Lahore Cantt. The accused was involved in distribution of psychotropic tablets.

The ANF Lahore intercepted a parcel at an office of a Air Cargo Company based at Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore and recovered 150 gram heroin concealed in ladies purses. The parcel was booked by an individual namely Zahoor Ahmed and was intended to be received by Shahid Khalid, residing at Cottrell Road, Bristol UK.

The ANF Lahore Airport team intercepted a suspected Nigerian national namely Obi while he was boarding for Dubai. On interrogation, the accused confessed of having ingested cocaine filled capsules, which later on, resulted in recovery of 760 gram cocaine.

The ANF Lahore Airport team intercepted Muhammad Nadeem Anwar and his wife Zunaira Nadeem, residents of Rahim Yar Khan at Multan airport and recovered 1.6 kg heroin from their luggage.

They intended to board for Sharjah by Air Arabia Flight No. A- 320.

The ANF Lahore arrested a local drug supplier namely Ali Asghar, resident of Faisalabad and recovered 2 kg heroin from his personal possession. He was arrested near Nooriwala Chowk, Ghulam Muhammad Abad, D-Block, Faisalabad.

The ANF Lahore seized a Canada destined parcel containing shoes at Air Cargo Shed, Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore and recovered 290 gram heroin concealed tactfully inside three pairs of shoes.

The parcel was being sent by Komal Urooj, resident of Lahore and was intended to be received by Usman Dar residing at Canada.

The ANF Lahore recovered 500 gram opium and 700 gram heroin from a local drug peddler named Asad Mehmood Khan, resident of Narowal who was arrested while riding on a motorcycle near Ashraf Sweets, Abdullah Pull, Faisalabad.

ANF Karachi apprehended a local drug paddler identified as Nawab Khan along with one (1) kg hashish in an operation carried out at Sehwan Bus Stop, Sindh University Road, Jamshoro.

The ANF Karachi in a joint operation in collaboration with Sindh Rangers arrested a drug peddler namely Abdul Waris and recovered 10 kg hashish from his personal possession.

He was arrested from Al-Asif Square, Lyari Express Way, Karachi.

The ANF Quetta recovered 7.5 kg hashish from possession of a drug carrier namely Najeebullah, resident of Karachi who was arrested near Baleli Check Post, Quetta.

All cases have been registered at respective ANF police stations and further investigations are underway.
