Pacer Wahab Riaz breaks silence after being rejected for World Cup squad

ISLAMABAD - Discarded fast bowler Wahab Riaz breaks silence after being rejected for World Cup squad.

He aimed a spot in Pakistan’s squad for the upcoming World Cup, slated to start from May 30 in England and Wales.

“As a cricketer, you always target World Cup and it’s disappointing for me that I will not be a part of this year’s mega event,” said Wahab while talking to the ARY News exclusively.

Wahab said that as a player his job was to perform well and rest depends on the selectors and hopes that the team management has better plans for an all-important tournament. “I have tried to perform whenever gets an opportunity. If you see my record then I have taken wickets in the UAE where the conditions don’t suit to the fast bowlers,” he said.

While commenting on Pakistan’s selected squad for the World Cup, Wahab said that the squad lacks experience which might create problems for the team in England.

“In my opinion experience player can give you an edge in bigger tournaments,” said Wahab who thinks that Shoaib Malik and Mohammad Hafeez have to play an important role in the mega event.
