Srilankan Army Chief vows to enhance defence ties with Pakistan


ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Monday said that Pakistan and Sri Lanka want peace in the region.

He said this in his meeting with Sri Lanka Army Chief Leutinent General Mahesh Senanayake who called on him who called on him at Prime Minister’s Office on Monday.

The prime minister called for a greater cooperation and sharing of expertise in the field of defence between Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

PM Abbasi further expressed satisfaction over security cooperation between the two countries.

Speaking on the occasion, the Sri Lankan army chief said that appreciated the huge sacrifices of the Pakistani nation and armed forces in the fight against terrorism.

Lt Gen Mahesh Senanayake said that Sri Lanka was keen to further strengthen its ties with Pakistan in the areas of security and defence.
