QUETTA – Pakistan government has opened the border at Chaman between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
The border which was closed over security measures on Ashura has been opened for trade and movement of people on Saturday.
The border crossing in Balochistan was closed by the government for two days in order to maintain security on Muharram 9 and 10 when processions are taken out across the country to pay homage to martyrs of Karbala.
Youm-i-Ashur, observed throughout the country on Friday with due solemnity and reverence, culminated peacefully as no incident of violence was reported.
Cities across the country echoed with nohas, marsiayas and the throbbing sounds of self-flagellation in various majalis and processions, while Ulema and Zakireen shed light on the bright and candid teachings of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his great companions.
