Federal Urdu University VC to be booked under plagiarism 

ISLAMABAD: (APP) Public Accounts Committee on Wednesday directed Higher Education Commission and University of Karachi to register First Information Report (FIR) against vice Chancellor Federal Urdu University Dr Salman D Muhammad over plagiarism.

Chairman PAC Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah directed the concerned to sack the vice chancellor Dr Salman D Muhammad for getting PhD degree by copying his thesis contents of other scholars.

Executive Director HEC Dr Arshad said that it has been proved that Dr Salman's contents for PhD thesis were based on copy, paste.

The thesis was in Urdu. HEC has written a letter to University of Karachi to take action against Dr Salman and cancel his PhD.

Earlier, Chairman PAC Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah constituted fourth Sub Committee for reviewing financial irregularities of less than Rs 50 million. The subcommittee would be chaired by MNA Ms Shahida Akhtar Ali. MNAs Sardar Arshad Khan Leghari, Sardar Ashiq Gopang and Syed Kazim Ali Shah would be the members of the subcommittee.

The PAC referred the case of illegal promotion and appointment case in Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training to FIA and  directed them to report within three months.

Chairman PAC directed federal government departments to appoint consultants for executing the projects of over Rs 50 million.

The PAC meeting was attended by Syed Naveed Qamar, Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho, Sardar Ashiq Gopang, Sahibzada Nazir Sultan, Mian Abdul Mannan, Pervaiz Malik, Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, Khalid Maqbool Siddique, Junaid Anwaar Chaudhary, Rana Afzaal, Sardar Arshad Khan Leghari, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, Syed Kazim shah Sheikh Rohail Asghar and Rasheed Godail.

Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah lamented the behaviour of a section of media over the coverage of Committee's Tuesday meeting, saying his trust has been breached by resorting to point scoring in reporting the meeting. He warned to ban the media if such irresponsible behaviour persists.
