Post PAF strike: Indian Air Force sacks top Air Marshal in Occupied Kashmir

NEW DELHI - Indian Air Force (IAF) has removed the senior-most officer of Srinagar Air Base - Air Officer Commanding (AOC) .
But the defence force is yet to clarify if the action against the AOC was linked to the crash of Mi 17 helicopter allegedly due to a friendly fire on February 27.
The incident took place on the same day as a raid by the Pakistan Air Force in retaliation to the IAF’s air strike on Balakot terror camp.
Sources said, The top officer has been posted out but it could be for other reasons.
Six airmen on board were killed in a crash that could be because of friendly fire.
The Air Force says the court of inquiry is still on and it is not possible to give a clear sequence of events leading to the crash as of now.
Sources said, according to the initial investigation, certain lapses have come to light but future course of action will only take place after the court of inquiry is complete.
There are also reports that a case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder is being contemplated against those who allegedly who accidentally brought down the helicopter assuming it to be Pakistan’s intrusion.
Although culpable homicide is a civil offence under the military law it can be used if a military official kills a colleague making it a case fit for court martial.
