RAWALPINDI: (APP) Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif on Tuesday met German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier at the German Foreign Ministry.
Discussion focused on bilateralism, regional security and peace in region, an ISPR news release here stated.
German Foreign Minister acknowledged Pakistan's contribution in war against terrorism and regional peace. Germany understands Pakistan challenges and assured full support for Pakistan efforts for stability and peace in region.
The COAS held an interactive session in Koerber Foundation, renowned think Tank in Berlin.
Objective and candid discourse on country's environment and security issues was held.
The COAS explained in detail the challenges faced by Pakistan and contribution towards peace and stability in the region.
Pakistan is successfully closing upto conclusion of kinetic prong of Operation Zarb-e-Azb. Have cleared entire FATA upto borders, also busted their linkages and networks, he said.
"We have sacrificed immensely, more than any other nation. World needs to stand by us till dividends are fully realised,"
the COAS said.
He said terrorism has morphed into a global phenomenon and warrants global response in order to effectively win, synergy by all required.
