ANF seizes huge amount of narcotics in country wide crack down

RAWALPINDI: (APP) Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has seized some 1.89 ton narcotics worth Rs 1.29 billion in international market during 18 countrywide operations and arrested 18 smugglers, including five women.
The operations were conducted at Islamabad, Attock, Gilgit, Faislabad, Lahore, Nowshehra, Peshawar, Thatta, Karachi and Qilla Abdullah, said an ANf press release.
The seized drugs include 1.86 ton hashish, 22.5 kg heroin, 2.1 kg methamphetamine and five kg opium.
ANF Quetta, while carrying out an intelligence-led operation at Qilla Abdullah, seized 1.826 ton hashish. The drugs consignment was reportedly placed at the site for handing over to another narcotics gang for onward dispatch.
ANF Rawalpindi recovered five kg hashish from a drug carrier who was arrested near Iqbal Shaheed Toll Plaza, GT Road, Attock.
In another operation, ANF Rawalpindi recovered 500 grams heroin from the possession of a drug carrier who was arrested from Gharsheen Bus Stop, GT Road, Attock.
In third operation, ANF Rawalpindi recovered 2.5 kg hashish from an accused arrested near Bus stand Jutial, Gilgit.
ANF Rawalpindi, in another operation, intercepted a Toyota Corolla near Khana Pul Bus-Stop on Islamabad Expressway and recovered 7.5 kg hashish concealed in it. Two persons on board were also arrested.
ANF Rawalpindi also recovered five kg hashish from a woman carrier who was arrested at Chungi No. 26, Motorway Chowk, Islamabad.
In sixth operation, ANF Rawalpindi intercepted a Suzuki Mehran car near Railway Crossing Tarnol, Islamabad and recovered five kg hashish. The car was also arrested.
ANF Lahore arrested a woman drug peddler namely Razia Bibi with three kg hashish. She was arrested from Bhatti Chowk, Lahore.
In other operations, ANF Lahore recovered 500 grams heroin, 380 grams, 1.13 kg heroin and 2.4 kg hashish and arrested Javed Khan resident of Mardan, Ameer Muhammad r/o Faisalabad and Humayun Khan r/o Kohat.
ANF Karachi, acting on a tip-off, intercepted a container at Pakistan International Container Terminal, Seaport, Karachi and recovered 20 kg heroin. which was intended to be smuggled abroad.
In another operation, ANF Karachi recovered 2.1 kg Methamphetamine from Abdul Rehman r/o Qilla Abdullah, who was arrested from Regal Chowk, Saddar, Karachi.
Yet in another operation, ANF Karachi arrested a drug peddler identified as Dildar Khan and seized one kg heroin.
In fourth operation, ANF Karachi arrested a local drug supplier namely Muhammad Hussain r/o Thatta near Thatta Bypass and recovered four kg hashish from his possession.
ANF Peshawar arrested a lady smuggler identified as Nazir Jana Bibi along with Zameen Gul, both r/o Upper Dir, and recovered five kg Opium from their possession.
In another operation, ANF Peshawar arrested two lady smugglers, Aashi Bibi and Maria Bibi, both r/o Peshawar along with 4.8 kg hashish.
All cases have been registered in ANF police stations while further investigations are under progress.
