Suicide attack on PTI leader Ikramullah Gandapur: Responsibility claimed

DI KHAN - Tehreek e Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has claimed responsiblity for the suicide attack that killed Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Ikramullah Khan Gandapur and his driver.

Both succumb to injuries sustained in a suicide attack targeting the PK-99 candidate’s convoy in the outskirts of Dera Ismail Khan on Sunday.

According to DPO Zahoor Khan Afridi, Gandapur was on his way to a corner meeting when the suicide explosion took place near his vehicle in Kolachi area critically injuring him, his driver, two policemen and two others.

He confirmed that Gandapur and his driver, Ramzan were martyred while others wounded in the suicide blast were receiving medical treatment at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH).

The PTI leader’s body has been moved to District Hospital Dera for postmortem. His funeral prayers will be offered early Monday morning in Kolachi, DI Khan.

DPO Afridi added that the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Police had assigned 13 gunmen for the PTI leader’s security, however, he chose to travel without alerting local authorities. The security forces had conveyed death threats to Gandapur on Saturday.

The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has claimed responsibility for the attack.
