The United Nations Security Council is expected to vote on a draft resolution today seeking a 30-day cease-fire in Syria's Eastern Ghouta to enable delivery of humanitarian aid.
Sweden and Kuwait which drafted the measure, requested the vote.
The push for a vote came after UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called for a halt of the “war activities” in Eastern Ghouta.
Meanwhile, the International Committee of the Red Cross has demanded access to rebel-held enclave near Damascus to allow for the evacuation of civilians trapped by a barrage of airstrikes.APP
