Pakistan Railway's mobile App system receives overwhelming response
LAHORE: (APP) The newly launched Pakistan Railway's mobile App-ticketing received an overwhelming response from rail passengers as a record number of seats were reserved through cellphones since its start from February 19.
Passengers are showing great enthusiasm in buying tickets through App available for mobiles running on the Android operating systems, said a spokesman of the Pakistan Railways.
He said initially online ticketing system had been made available to 48 trains currently operating on main lines. Now passengers can book their seats of their own choice from anywhere in Pakistan. "Having booked a ticket using the App, a commuter need not take a print-out of the same and can show its soft copy on the cellphone to the ticket examiner in train", he mentioned.
A commuter Asif Sultan Butt, Advocate appreciating the launch of mobile ticketing said, "The paperless ticketing system will save time for passengers enabling them to avoid standing in queue at booking office," he said. It was also good that there was no additional charges for online ticketing, he said.
Launched in October 2016, the Pakistan Railways earned over Rs 60 million during the period of two months by selling e-tickets.
After the initial sign in, the App shows 6 tabs; Timings, Travel, Tickets, Helpline, Freight, and Feedback.
One can view other details such as possible delays, expected time of arrivals, payment solutions etc.
