Military buildup under CPEC: China officially responds back to US Report
BEIJING - China has rejected a media report that it is planning to build military equipment including fighter jets under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor framework.
During her regular briefing in Beijing, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Hua Chunying said the relevant report is not true and that the CPEC is an important framework for cooperation bearing long-term interests for both sides.
Referring to the meeting of joint coordination committee on CPEC held in Beijing, she said that the two sides would continue to implement the consensus reached between the leadership of the two countries to cement the early harvest projects and to extend the CPEC to industrial parks and social livelihood.
To a question regarding reports of withdrawal of the US troops from Afghanistan and Syria, she said that Chinas position on these two issues was consistent. Hua Chunying said that as the close neighbour of Afghanistan, China stood for the Afghan-led and Afghan-owned inclusive reconciliation process.
