US drone strike near Pak - Afghan border in Nangarhar

KABUL - At least three Taliban fighters were kiled in US drones strikes in eastern Nangarhar province of Afghanistan, the provincial government said Friday.

According to an official statement, the latest airstrikes were carried out late on Thursday evening in the vicinity of Ghani Khel district.

The statement further added that the airstrikes left three Taliban insurgents dead whiel their weapons, ammunition, and explosives were also destroyed.

According to the provicial government, the dead body of a ISIS militant was also found during a separate operation in Khogyani district and some military kits including a communication set were also confiscated.

The anti-government armed militant groups including the ISIS and Taliban insurgents have not commented regarding the report so far.

This comes as at least five ISIS militants including a shadow judge of the terror group were killed during an operation in this province on Tuesday.

The provincial government media office in a statement said Wednesday the militants were killed during the operations conducted in the past 24 hours in Khogyani district.

The statement further added that the operations are being conducted as part of the Silab-4 and 9 operations to eliminate the militants of the terror group from Nangarhar.

At least seven militants of the terror group were also wounded during the same operations, the statement said, adding that three areas including a village have been cleared from the presence of the terror group.
