KARACHI: The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has fetched more than Rs 270 million from the sale of five idle unserviceable engines of A310 aircraft already grounded.
A spokesman for the national flag carrier said on Thursdaythat all PPRA rules and regulations were followed in the disposalof these engines with complete transparency.
These engines were nearly 25-30 years old. Tender advertisements were placed in national dailies as well as international dailies.
The proceeds from the sale of these five engines will be utilised by PIA Engineering Division to enhance the capabilityand development of infrastructure of the Engineering Department,the PIA spokesman said.
