Water Shortage in Pakistan rising drastically

ISLAMABAD: (APP) State Minister for Water and Power, Abid Sher Ali on Friday informed the Senate that the country was facing acute water shortage and reservoirs were depleting very fast.

Replying to calling attention notice of Saleem Mandviwala regarding country's depleting water resources, particularly Baluchistan, he said that provinces may be fighting over water in future if the issue was not taken seriously.

He said that rising number of population was somehow a burden on already limited water reservoirs.

The minister stressed the need for building more dams and water reservoirs to cope with dangerous situation.

He said that 30 million acres feet water, worth Rs. 18 billion goes into sea every year.
