Indian troops impose curfew, arrest top leaders in occupied Kashmir on Ashura

ISLAMABAD - In occupied Kashmir, the authorities have placed the Chairman of Hurriyat forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, under house arrest in Srinagar.

A spokesman for the forum in a statement said that Mirwaiz was scheduled to deliver a sermon on the occasion of Ashura and pay tributes to Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and other martyrs of Karbala at Alam Sahib in Narwara area of Srinagar.

Meanwhile, Indian forces have imposed curfew-like restrictions in Srinagar and other town of occupied territory to prevent people from taking out Ashura processions.

Three bodies of Indian policemen were found in Shopian district, on Friday.
