Pakistan will not compromise on its national interests with America, Sartaj Aziz

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif during his visit to the US would meet high level American officials, besides President Barrack Obama, he said while talking to news channels. Sartaj Aziz said during the talks, the two sides would exchange views on issues of mutual, regional and global interest. Ways to boost cooperation between the two countries in defence field would also be discussed. Sartaj Aziz said the US could maintain whatever kind of relations it wished to with India, but at a time when Pak-India relations are tense, Washington should not increase strategic and conventional imbalance in the region to the extent that there is a threat to regional security. He said that Pakistan would welcome steps taken by the US to improve the situation in Afghanistan. Pakistan wants to promote economic ties with the United States, he added.The Advisor said the situation in Afghanistan would also come under discussion during the meeting between Nawaz Sharif and President Obama. Pakistan wants to revive the Afghan dialogue process to restore peace in the war-torn country,he added. The Prime Minister, he said, would brief the US leadership on Pakistan's policies for the revival of the economy, fight against terrorism and the regional situation. The Prime Minister will also discuss about fighting against terrorism of Pakistan and the challenges faced against terrorism. Discussions would also be held on bilateral cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, education, energy, defence and counter-terrorism
