In a surprise, Chinese social media App TikTok becomes most downloaded app in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD - According to Sensor Tower, a US-based Mobile App Store Marketing Intelligence, TikTok has become one of the most downloaded Chinese-owned social media applications in Pakistan.
Currently, TikTok has been downloaded 16.3 million times in the past 11 months and is on the second position amongst the most downloaded applications overall. WhatsApp, on the other hand, is leading with 18.1 million downloads.
The Chinese application has been breaking records for a while now. It just surpassed 1.5 billion downloads worldwide link, becoming the third most downloaded non-gaming app in 2019 on the App Store and Google Play store. Overall, TikTok has been downloaded 25.5 million times in Pakistan since it was first launched. This has made it the fastest-growing platform in the country.
Globally, the application currently ranks as the third most downloaded non-gaming app and has hit 655.8 million installs in 2019.
According to Mobile Insights Strategist Craig Chapple “The TikTok format is ideal for making videos go viral, further powering its growth and status as a must-have social media app, both for creators interested in making their own content, and the more casual user looking for entertaining videos.”
