COAS General Raheel Sharif meets US Senate Armed Services Committee in Capitol Hill

WASHINGTON: Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif met United States (US) Armed Services and Intelligence Committees. US senators of both the committees praised Pakistan Army achievements in the war on terror and offered complete support to Pakistan Army in its anti-terrorism campaign. According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General, General Raheel Sharif visited Capitol Hill during his US visit and met Chairman Senate Armed Services and Intelligence Committee and other senior members. Army chief said in the meeting that terrorism is an international problem and the entire world will have to unite to counter it. He said that the management of Pak-Afghan border will also has to be improved. The US chairman Armed Services Committee also appreciated the achievements of Pakistan Army against terrorism and operation Zarbe Azab. The US senators praised Raheel Sharif skills in the war on terror. Senator Richard Bernstein said that Pak Army has shattered the terrorists. Leadership of Intelligence Committee acknowledged that Pakistan has turned tide of terrorism and assured COAS of US support and cooperation in eradicating terrorism and extremism. Senate Armed Services Committee meeting included Chairman Senate John McCain, Senator Jack Reed and senior Senate members. Senator McCain appreciated efforts, sacrifices and steadfastness of Pakistan Armed Forces, especially COAS leadership in fighting terrorist networks on both sides of Pak-Afghan border.
