PESHAWAR, (APP): South Waziristan Agency Sports Gala begins


The second edition of the Political Administration Sports Gala in all Tehsil of the South Waziristan Agency (SWA) got under way amidst great enthusiasm witnessed.


The opening ceremony in this connection was held at Tehsil Sub-Division Sarorgha wherein Political Agent South Waziristan Agency Zafar Ur Islam and Brig. Shahid graced the occasion as guest.


Besides, Sports Manager South Waziristan Agency Taj Muhammad, elders and players of various games were also present.


The ceremony was started with recitation from Holy Quran by Qari Inam, followed by National Anthem by the school children. A stunning display of Taekwondo and Wushu, a form of Martial Arts were also present which largely enthralled the sitting spectators.


Zafar Ur Islam lauded the efforts of the Agency Sports Manager and other members of the organizing committee for holding the Sports Gala wherein various sports events would be organized in all across South Waziristan Agency , followed with a grand closing ceremony.


He urged the organizer to provide all out facilities to the players and such events would be a regular feature of the Agency to give ample opportunities to the youth of FATA to come and exhibit their hidden talent in various games.


Through these activities, he said, more talented youth would come up at national and international levels. He said the youth of SWA were confined to their home and now after rendering great sacrifices by the jawans of security forces and the people of SWA, are heading toward a complete normalcy.


Earlier, Agency Sports Manager highlighted the objective of the Sports Gala for the youth of SWA. Assistant Political Agent Sahibzada Najeeb Ullah formally inaugurated the football event in Tehsil Kotkai of South Waziristan Agency and the cricket event was formally inaugurated the Assistant Political Officer Muhammad Shoaib in Tehsil Chagmalai. He also distributed playing kits among the players.
