Government cracks down on 254 unregistered suspicious seminaries
ISLAMABAD: 254 religious seminaries have been shut down by government across the country over their alleged involvement in suspicious activities under National Action Plan NAP.
As per details, 190 seminaries are being monitored by Federal Investigation Agency FIA on the directives of government over their alleged receiving of foreign funds.
The procedure of collecting data of seminaries in Islamabad and Punjab has been completed by Interior ministry while procedure is underway to collect data of religious seminaries in KPK, Sindh and Baluchistan.
Interior Ministry has collected 75%, 80% and 60% data of seminaries in KPK, Sindh and Baluchistan respectively.
254 unregistered suspicious seminaries have been closed by interior ministry so far which includes 167 seminaries in Sindh, 13 in KPK, 2 in Punjab and 72 in Baluchistan.
