Indian cop killed in an ambush on patrol party in occupied Kashmir

SRINAGAR - Hours after Governor's rule was promulgated in the state, Militants attacked a police patrol on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway injuring a policeman at Galander in Pulwama district. Tanveer Ahmad succumbed to his injuries, DNA has reported.
The attack comes 24 hours after security forces killed three militants in Tral.
Militants fired at a police vehicle near Galandar. One policeman Injured and shifted to hospital. Search continues in the area. Information is preliminary," tweeted Kashmir Zone Police. The area was cordoned off soon after the attack and massive search has been launched to hunt down the attackers.
Reinforcements have been rushed to help the forces on the ground.
On Tuesday, three militants were killed at Hyena village in Tral area of south Kashmir's Pulwma district. Five security forces personnel also sustained injuries in the crossfire.
While pursuing credible leads regarding the presence of militants in Tral, the Army, CRPF and Police had jointly launched searches in Hyena on Tuesday afternoon. Militants fired on the joint search patrol, which subsequently retaliated leading to a shoot-out.
"All three militants were successfully neutralized by security forces," said a police spokesperson.
This is the second time after the Ramzan ceasefire was called off that security forces killed militabts in the state. Two were killed in one of the operations in the Panar forests of Bandipora district on June 18. Two militants and a soldier were killed on June 14.
